Standard tutoring may not be taught by professionals, and thus, may not be able to specifically help a dietitian pass the licensing examination. Our services are not only tutoring, but also professional mentorship. We prepare students to pass the exam, but we feel that it is equally as important to provide them with the knowledge and skill needed for employment as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. As we go through materials and practice questions, we take a deep dive into concepts that our students will need to work effectively as an RD.
Our program is special in that it uniquely focuses on each student's needs to ensure a high chance for success. We have an incredible 100% pass rate for first time test takers and 75% for those who previously failed. During sessions, we look at our clients challenge areas and address them specifically. We work towards a deep understanding of concepts, rather than just memorization. Alongside our tutoring methods, we provide helpful resources, including a 30+ page (and expanding!) document that ties together integral concepts.
We also have signature test-taking strategies that other test prep materials don't! Our special 3-part strategy teaches our students from the very first session so that they can apply it whenever they approach exam questions.
RefreshRD goes beyond other test prep options in the quality of expertise we can offer—we employ specialty foodservice RD tutoring consultants that meet with students to help them with the foodservice and management domains. We work to cater to specialized interests and needs.
Yes! Included in our one-on-one program is student matching. We match students with a study buddy (if desired) to go through concepts and materials they are currently learning through our program. It's a great adjunct to our comprehensive program, and an excellent way to easily access peer support and insight.
Yes, we do! We track pass rates for students who go through our tutoring programs very carefully. We measure the percentages of students who have never taken the exam before coming to us, which is currently only 7%. 93% of our students have previously failed the RD exam previously, anywhere from 1 to 7 times. Since 2015, our pass rates have been 70% on average. In 2017, our pass rate overall was an astonishing 75 %; we had a 100% pass rate for first-time test takers and 70% for those who previously failed. The latter is double the national average! We have included links to the pass / fail rates. While we can never guarantee a student will pass the exam, given these statistics, we're happy to say that our students have at least a 70% chance of passing after they have worked with us.
Absolutely. It's OK if you are not currently applying your knowledge in a work setting—we regularly work with students who are not practicing as a dietitian. Part of our approach includes simulated role play exercises as well as interactive learning. (Sometimes we have our students "teach us" a concept as if we are a patient, which helps solidify concepts in a setting similar to the real-world.)
We also include question and answer exercises, which engage students directly instead of just providing them with raw information. By asking students to tell us what they know, we can fill in the gaps in their existing knowledge!
